The Story of Willow Groove

West Coast Inspired Functional Art Furniture

Willow Groove founder, Dave Duckworth was born and raised in Saskatchewan where his passion for woodworking was rooted. At the young age of fourteen he completed his first piece of furniture and it still sits in his fathers living room today. He knew at this time that he enjoyed being creative and working with wood. His love of wood eventually pulled him out to the west coast where the wood is big and plentiful.

Having studied woodworking throughout Western Canada for the last 20 years, his passion for the craft grew and he was inspired to start his own business in 2016.

For Dave, creating one of a kind pieces is an intimate process. Before deciding on the wood and materials, he thinks about how it will be used and where it will be placed. His process is guided by the natural lines of his materials and he approaches each project differently.

Dave and his wife have made Vancouver Island their home for the past 13 years and have fallen in love with the West Coast and all that Vancouver Island has to offer. They spend their time off exploring the coastline, hiking with their son & dog Cedar, and they love hosting friends and family for dinner. Most recently, in fall 2022, they moved to Shawnigan Lake where they built their new home and a large new shop and showroom for Willow Groove Furniture.

Along with the functional art furniture online shop of pre-made designs, Willow Groove is available to make custom designs. We would love to bring your vision to light. Feel free to get in touch to discuss your project in detail. We look forward to hearing from you.
